My first blog of the season: good news to share :-)
This is the start of my third season with the Montpellier Handball club and to be completely honest it seems as if it was just yesterday that I first arrived to Montpellier. We have had some good times with the club and the team so far and some not so easy times as well, mostly due to bad luck and injuries.
At the end of the last season the subject of resigning the contract with MAHB arose and we began the talks and discussions. It took us some time but I am very happy and pleased to be able to announce that we have decided to re-sign my contract until 2016. So at least five more years of me for MAHB
and five more years of MAHB for me. My family and I feel great here and have come to consider Montpellier our second home so naturally we are extremely happy to be able to prolong our stay even longer.
I hope the entire MAHB team with me on board continue in trying to aspire to the goals that we set out to achieve together and that we will be able to hold many more trophies in our arms.
Wish us all a great season and I am looking forward to seeing you all at our first match.
Our new family member!
And it’s done. After long discussions, long emails, and lots of long sleepless nights our new family member is with us in Montpellier! He finally came and after a long trip from Alexandria (Minnesota), United States of America arrived unharmed, happy to be with us and in our home. I’ts not just Masa and me who are happy but also Lara because she got a new friend to play with and also to speak with although I have a feeling he will always have problems with French J.
If you still don’t know what I am talking about I can tell you this: he/it is almost the same height as Lara but a little older than she is. Although he has a lot of force in him, he needs to have a wooden stick, which helps him to walk normally. With his strong force he can feel in what mood you are in and with his big ears that are sticking out of his head he can hear kilometres away J.
If you STILL don’t know what I am talking about: he is a green little guy and he is well known all over the world. He has a lot of fans that support him and will do everything to take a photo with him. He was made in the year 1994 and they made only 9500 of them. I proudly announce that his number is 4405 and I think that for anyone who reads this blog and is a Star Wars fan knows that I am talking about a little green guy named MASTER YODA.
Fixing my PS3
This week marked another challenge for me. One of my biggest guilty pleasures, my PS3 broke! I checked around a little bit and I saw getting it fixed somewhere was really expensive and not really worth it, so i decided I will try and repair it alone. I found this YouTube video on how to repair your video game console so I watched it over and over again to see if I could do it.
I went to eBay first and I bought all the equipment I was going to need, from the screwdrivers to special paste. Like I said, everything that I needed…
Once I started fixing it was all I could think about. It’s how I get with these tech things. I get really into and want to do it all the time.
I began fixing my PS3 step by step, exactly the way the guy in the video does it and I was so exicted when I finished. I plugged the PS3 in I pressed the button to turn it on and voila it worked!
I was so confident in myself and I honestly thought to myself: “Man, you are the best, you can fix anything!”. Right after I was thinking this (it was like 10 min after I turned PS3 it on) the same thing happened again the same it was broken again!!! So much for being able to fix anything haha.
I guess sometimes it’s better to leave these things to the professionals. I hope whomever I take my PS3 can fix it soon because I am experiencing some really bad anxiety for not being able to play Call of Duty hahaha!
Karting
After a long and difficult season we entered in to the period where practices are more for fun, so those of us who are not with the national team or injured are playing football, indoor hockey and other little games that are fun.
But we don’t only have in practice, we have lots of fun after too. Me and some friends from the team went go-carting yesterday. It has been quite a while since my last time and initially it was a really funny feeling to sit in that little go-cart and I had a feeling I will just fall out immediately. But I was wrong. I did pretty good in the qualifications rounds and won the second start position.
Then a moment of truth came LOL and I had I great start I got hit from behind by one of my friends like Michael Schumacher did in the days when he was still good J. But I didn’t stop! I got back on track and I did some really good laps and I even came back in second place and had a chance to win the race but I made a mistake in the last turn and that cost me my victory aaargghh!
So I won second place and I also won the prize for the fastest lap which I did in 36.600 seconds. I think I am actually technically the winner because all my friends were like 1 second after my best lap! So, I’m just going to keep saying I won haha!
Last game of the season
This past season was very long and we had quite a few good games and then of course some bad ones too. In the Champions League we played really good and we also won against some of the best teams out there. After a great first match in ¼ finals we lost the home match in Montpellier against the team from Mannheim, Rhein Neckar Lowen. A lot of our key players were injured and it was too difficult for us to play against a really experienced team like that. Unfortunately. The loss was hard for us as we really wanted to be in Koln this year for the Final Four. However, we pulled ourselves back together and got back into the game, as the season wasn’t finished yet. We had a few matches left for the national league that were also important and we couldn’t let those go by. So, we kicked ass in those
.
Today’s match in the Arena is our last match in this season and those are always emotional, especially if you know there are some players leaving the team and this is our last match together. This is the case Adrien DiPanda and David Juricek, who are not only my teammates but also my really good friends and I will miss playing with them. But you know how it is in handball; we might play together again
.
So, everyone who can, come to the Arena tonight to celebrate our 1st place and our French Champions title. And obviously we will go out to celebrate after too
!
Lara’s Haircut
Last Sunday was Mother’s Day in France. My daughter woke up around 7.30 in the morning and I think it was the second time ever that I woke up with her (normally Masa wakes up – oops haha). While she was drinking her bottle I was a little bored since I was up so early and I have no idea what people who are up at these crazy hours do. So, I decided to cut her hair (in my defense, Masa and I had been discussing for some time on whether we should take her to a salon and get it cut).
Since I figured she is still too young to go to a hair salon, I decided to take matters into my own hands and do it! I think I did a pretty good job (I mean how often do I cut little girls’ hair right?) but Masa was in shock when she saw it and said I gave her a bowl cut; she wasn’t very happy about this Mother’s Day gift. Maybe next year some jewelry would be more appropriate…
Summer Livin’
A year a go we bought an apartment on the Slovenian coast, in Portoroz. We decided that we will renovate it completely so we can enjoy our summer holidays in Slovenia there.
The work in the apartment is finally done and we are so happy that we will finally able to go there this summer. My parents were very helpful with the renovations and I don’t think that we could do it without .
So now Lara, Masa and I will not have to live in a barn. I will put some pictures what it looked like before and of course how it looks like now.
Now:
Star Wars Mania
You probably don’t know that I am a big fan of Star Wars. When I played in Kiel, Niko and I went to the big Lego store in Hamburg where I bought a big Lego Death Star!!! Through the years my friends brought me a lot of different things from Star Wars like a talking keychain figures, little bobble heads for my car, a clock in the form of Darth’s Wader’s head and I even got some Star Wars limited collection clothes from my sponsor Adidas! Now I think you can imagine that I am a little-BIG fan of the movie!
But the best of this year’s presents was from my girlfriend Masa. She bought me a really nice 3D Star Wars chess game with all the figures from Star Wars depicting the Jedi Rebel forces against Darth Vader.
Hello welcome, to my new official website – blog.
I want to do something different this time so I decided to make a blog. This blog will be only in English and that presents a quite a challenge for me so bear with me.
The blogs will be about lots of different thing but I cant tell you for sure that you will read about me, about what I am up to and into and the things that I go through. There will be funny, happy blogs and on the other hand sometimes you will read about slightly less fun moments!
I will try to do my best not only to write but also to upload as many photos as possible so you can imagine a little how it all goes through my eyes! I hope you will enjoy and have fun reading.
